The round shaft fits a standard hand drill chuck. A drill is not included.
The heads are about 6.5 x 1.4 in, which suits test batches up to about a gallon. A 5-gallon bucket needs a larger mixer.
Start slow with the paddle fully under the surface, then increase speed. Running fast near the top splashes and whips air into the glaze.
Use one color per glaze or slip so materials never mix between buckets.
No. Once a paddle has stirred glaze, keep all eight in the studio, since glaze can contain materials that are not food safe. The four colors make it easy to dedicate each paddle to one glaze.
Add water to the dry glaze gradually, run the paddle slowly until everything is wet, then sieve the batch. Measuring the same amount of water each time keeps your results repeatable.

Hand-stirring a glaze that has settled is slow and leaves lumps. A spiral paddle on a drill mixes it smoothly in seconds. These paddles are sized for small containers such as test batches, quart tubs and gallon buckets.
Use a different color for each glaze to avoid cross-contamination, and rinse straight after use.
