Press a soft slab over the dome, or into a matching dish, to shape a bowl or small plate. The turned handle lets you press evenly and lift the mold straight off.

Dust the mold with cornstarch or cover it with thin cloth, and remove the clay at soft leather-hard before it shrinks tight.

Drape clay over a covered mold and press it gently into shape, or press the prepared mold onto a slab, cut around the edge, let the clay firm and lift the mold away.
