A wheel is narrow and makes a band or border, while a texture roller covers a whole slab. Wheels are ideal around rims and the bellies of wheel-thrown pots.
Yes. Roll it around the pot at leather-hard while supporting the inside wall with your other hand.
A slightly soft slab that still holds its shape shows the ornate band clearly. On leather-hard clay the wheel barely marks, and on wet clay the detail smears.
Dust the clay with a little cornstarch, or press through thin plastic first. Pick clay out of the wheel pattern with a soft brush so the next band stays crisp.
Yes. Roll the stripes on the flat slab, let it stiffen a bit, then cut and join the mug or bowl. The narrow wheel also lets you roll a band right around a rim.
Rub underglaze into the printed band and sponge off the raised parts. A glaze that breaks over edges will also draw the border in dark lines.
No. Roller wheels and handles are sold separately. Choose a white or black handle style separately if you need one.

Roll ornate Renaissance-style bands around mugs, bowls and slab pieces with a handheld stamp roller wheel. Unlike a full-width roller, the narrow wheel makes clean borders and stripes exactly where you want them.
The sturdy plastic wheel comes in many patterns; choose one from the style options.
Handle sold separately: a roller wheel style includes the wheel only. Choose a separate white or black handle style if you need a handle; handle styles do not include a wheel.
