Zodiac Signs Silk Screen Stencil, 4 x 5 in

All twelve: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

Cover the other signs with painter's tape on the back of the screen, then print. Remove the tape before washing.

Tape off the signs you do not want, lay the screen on leather-hard or bone-dry clay, and pull creamy underglaze across it with a squeegee. The screen has no adhesive, so hold it down or tape the edges.

For ornaments you will fire, use underglaze. Acrylic does not survive a kiln, so keep it for unfired pieces and polymer clay.

Peel the tape first, then rinse the 4 x 5 in screen and soak it a few minutes. Dry it flat, because dried underglaze in the small symbols is hard to remove.

Gentle curves work if you print one sign at a time. For a rounded ornament, print on flat clay or a tile before forming it.

Yes, fire the underglaze with the piece to make a birthday mug or ornament permanent, and add clear glaze if you like. Match the underglaze firing range to your clay.
