Shape and refine foot rings with seven wooden profile ribs, each cut with a different edge: scalloped, notched, curved and straight. Hold a profile against a leather-hard pot on the wheel to repeat the same base or rim detail across a set of matching pieces.
The ribs are made from smooth, polished beech wood and come in three sizes, about 4.5 x 5.5 in, 3.1 x 5.5 in and 3.1 x 3.5 in. The larger pieces cover a full foot ring in one pass, and the smaller ones reach tighter curves. A finger hole in each rib gives a steady grip.
Rinse the ribs after use and let them air dry; avoid soaking the wood. Browse trimming and carving tools for related studio tools.
